Mary Bone Writes

Flatlined

The doctors told me
I flatlined on the table.
“Code Blue”, was yelled
Aloud, scaring me into
A zombie existence.
Two large clamps
came down on my chest
And revived me.
I was called back
By someone calling my name.
Part of me wanted to venture to
A new place,
Devoid of pretense and makeup.

Organic Gardenias

Organic Gardenias
Vines and blooms
Thrive in my flowerbox
Outside my window.
The smell is heavenly.

Chasing Waterfalls

Chasing waterfalls
In my dreams
It is breathtaking.
The cascade of my thoughts
Is spectacular.
I slide onto a slippery slope
Into a coma.
