Tandem Writes

Epitaph

here lies
the poet
you once
knew, now
the verse
is closed

while living
the poet
gave us
rhymes,
words to drape
around our
cold shoulders

now we must
bring flowers
and a few
lines of our
own.

Emma Stone

today’s the day
I’m supposed to be working
but I’m watching
Netflix instead

writing silly poems
I wish could be read in
a smoky sometimes
sarcastic voice.

Biter

Nubbins, the biter
with sharp teeth, look out, because
those molars crunch
Parents tried
to teach her not to, but the canines
kept sharpening
I love her
but she puts marks all over
me, bringing out blood.
